A large, fast-growing shrub reaching up to about 5 m in height in its natural habitat, with soft branches, broad leaves, and long, yellow, trumpet-shaped flowers that release an intoxicating fragrance. Native to the rainforests of southeastern Brazil, where it grows along riverbanks and forest margins, it is a popular ornamental well suited to warm-temperate climates and above. It is easily grown in containers and can be kept outdoors during summer in cooler regions.
