Musa Itinerans var. Xishuangbannaensis

A very large, exceptionally fast-growing wild banana native to the mountain forests of southern Yunnan, China. Its reddish pseudostems can reach over 50 cm (20 in.) in diameter and up to 12 m (40 ft.) in height. The purplish fruits are a favourite food of monkeys. Musa itinerans var. xishuangbannaensis is reasonably cold tolerant and adapts well to cultivation in a wide range of temperate and tropical climates.
